Park Avenue Center is a family owned substance abuse and mental health Treatment Facility who has been in business in the South Minneapolis area since 1979.
Position Summary:
While embodying the organization's values, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing support to all company programming through medication observation, client education and assessment, staffing, and care coordination.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as first point of contact for clients, chemical dependency technician staff, clinical staff, and other entities regarding clients' self-administration of medications; ensuring clients take medications as prescribed while escalating matters to the Supervising RN when necessary
- Provide care coordination of services between clients and on-site medical clinic and with any other resources as needed
- Maintain work schedules for the department, ensuring proper coverage to meet clients' needs
- Monitor documentation of client medication self-administration, storage, and disposal and use of emergency and over-the-counter medications as required
- Act as a consultant to clients for assessment of their ability to manage self-administration of medication safely; including consultation on any schedule II-V medications that are identified in the Controlled Substances Act (CSA)
- Maintain compliance with the Observation of Self-Administration of Medication (OSAM) policy and the Staff Medication Resource Manual
- Maintain a positive, professional, and ethical demeanor with clients and within the community while following a strict code of ethics
- Maintain regular communication with the Supervising RN and counselors regarding clients' failure to take medications as prescribed, if medication levels are running low, if medication discrepancies occur, or if there are any medical concerns
Education/Licensure/Certification:
- Must be a Registered Nurse licensed in the state of Minnesota, in good standing
- Must obtain and maintain required continuing education units and training
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Must demonstrate competence in working with clients with co-occurring disorders; through education, training, and experience
- Ability to work in alignment with company values, goals, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of MN Statute Chapter 245G and licensing and its application to the department and company's policy and procedures; or ability to obtain knowledge after hire
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative relationships with co-workers
- Ability to maintain excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English
- Ability to establish priorities, manage projects and meet deadlines
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and electronic medical record software program; or ability to obtain proficiency after training

This is a full-time, benefits eligible position, working Monday through Friday. Flexible scheduling opportunities are available once initial training is completed.
