TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Interviews and makes initial patient assessment using a holistic approach, including patient knowledge of procedure.
- Provides IV access for IV sedation and hydration.
- Prepares endoscopy treatment room for procedure.
- Documents in electronic medical record.
- Assists physician with endoscopic procedures.
- Monitors vital signs, patient condition and documents accurately and completely pre-, intra- and post-procedures recovery.
- Obtain and label specimens appropriately, follows through to make sure specimen sent out in a timely fashion.
- Understand role responsibility in emergency action policy and respond appropriately.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patient and self.
- Assist with admission and discharge of patient in Endoscopy unit.
- Maintains patient’s right and confidentiality.
- Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior in work setting.
- Assists the physician in teaching the patient and family about the patient’s care.
- Complies with attendance policy.'
