Job Description
- Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles
- Perform comprehensive assessments of patients' health status, including physical, psychosocial, and spiritual dimensions
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians or advanced practice providers
- Monitor and document patient responses to medications and treatments, and report any adverse reactions or changes in condition
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Educate patients and their families about disease processes, treatment options, and self-care techniques
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with regulatory standards
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Proficient in IV insertion, including knowledge of different types of catheters and techniques for successful insertion
- Strong anatomy knowledge to accurately assess patient conditions and administer appropriate treatments
- Ability to ventilate patients using various methods, such as bag-valve-mask ventilation or mechanical ventilation
- Knowledge of enteral feeding methods and ability to safely administer nutrition via feeding tubes
- Proficient in suturing wounds using sterile techniques to promote healing and prevent infection
- Familiarity with Hospice palliative medicine principles to provide compassionate end-of-life care
- Understanding of laboratory tests and ability to interpret results for appropriate patient care interventions
- Experience in dialysis procedures, including setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting of equipment
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems, such as Athenahealth, for accurate documentation and communication
- Associates or Bachelor’s in Nursing preferred
- Current NJ Registered Nurse License
- BLS, ACLS and NIHHS Certifications required
