Job Title:Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room

Overview:
As a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room (OR), you will play a crucial role in the surgical team, providing high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of duties, from preparing the Operating Room and assisting the surgical team to ensuring the patient's safety and comfort.
Key Responsibilities:
Preoperative Assessment:
- Conduct thorough preoperative assessments of patients, reviewing medical histories and identifying potential risks or complications.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients are adequately prepared for surgery.
Operating Room Preparation:
- Set up and organize the Operating Room, ensuring that all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and in good working order.
- Sterilize and prepare surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
Patient Preparation:
- Assist in the positioning and prepping of patients for surgery, ensuring aseptic techniques are followed.
- Administer preoperative medications as prescribed and provide emotional support to alleviate patient anxiety.
Intraoperative Support:
- Collaborate with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical technologists, to ensure a safe and efficient surgical environment.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide necessary assistance, such as passing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and managing surgical specimens.
Patient Advocacy and Safety:
- Monitor patients' vital signs and responses to surgical interventions, taking appropriate action to address any deviations from the norm.
- Implement safety measures to prevent surgical site infections and other complications.
Postoperative Care:
- Assist in the transfer of patients to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) or other designated recovery areas.
- Monitor patients in the immediate postoperative period, assessing for complications and coordinating care with other healthcare providers.
Documentation and Communication:
- Accurately document all aspects of patient care, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team, providing concise and relevant information about the patient's condition and the surgical procedure.
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in CA.
- BLS and ACLS certification.
- Operating Room Nursing Certification (CNOR) is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, aseptic techniques, and perioperative nursing care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods and move swiftly within the Operating Room.
- Lift and move patients as necessary.
- Fine motor skills and visual acuity to assist with intricate tasks.
Working Conditions: Primarily within the Operating Room environment, which may involve exposure to blood and other bodily fluids.
