We are seeking a highly experienced Registered Nurse to become a new-member of our dedicated ASC/OR team!
As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), you will provide clinical nursing as well as provide for the efficient functioning of the ASC. This position is part-time days, does not have on-call requirements, and does not require you to work weekends or holidays. The ideal candidate will have strong nursing and triage experience.

Responsibilities:
- Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
- Conducts pre- and post-operative education. Serves as the communication liaison to family and members of the operating team.
- Takes and monitors patients’ vital signs.
- Responsible for the direct and indirect provision of professional nursing care of the patients in the operating room. Establish and maintain courteous and cooperative relations with patients and other users of the ASC. Monitors patients’ physical and emotional well-being throughout the care continuum.
- Oversees the clinical practice of nursing in the ASC including assessing patient care needs and planning the delivery of care utilizing the nursing process in a variety of settings.
- Execute proper use, care and handling of equipment to ensure safety of operating staff and patient.
- Assesses patient's needs including physical, psychosocial, spiritual, emotional, educational, sexual and age related needs.
- Ensures that operating on correct patient and the correct procedure is being performed.
- Directs other caregivers in providing patient care. Communicate continuously with medical staff to meet needs for patient care.
- Handles patient documentation. Documents are complete, clear, concise, and according to policy and procedures.
- Prepare timely and accurate records of patient history and recovery charts.
- Observes, checks and monitors all equipment used during perioperative phase to confirm they are running smoothly.
- Observes and enforces strict standards of asepsis.
- Initiates corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
- Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol
- Assists in positioning, responding to comfort/safety of patient.
- Assumes charge responsibilities and resolves problems.
- Individualizes patient care according to patient's health status, age level and surgery/procedure being performed.
- Assist with patient care in recovery room, procedure room and operating room, as needed.
- Prepares surgery suite for surgical procedures.
- Scrubs and circulates for surgical procedures for various surgeons that operate.
- Restocks supplies in the surgery suite when procedures have ended for the day. Monitoring of surgery inventory and notifying appropriate individuals when supplies are needed.
- Operates equipment and performs technical skills according to policies and standards; learns new skills and seeks assistance appropriately.
- Ensure that the Surgery Department and Operating Rooms are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner
- Reports variances from standard practice to the Nurse Manager.
- Develops educational material and provides health education to patients and families.
- Processes patients through the ASC.
- Assesses the level of personnel skills and the availability of resources to meet established patient outcomes.
- Actively participates in attaining ASC goals and mission.
- Monitors and evaluates cost effective practices within the ASC.
- Complete all physician orders, administer medications and conduct treatments and test for patients in a timely manner, when directed.
- Participates in the development and utilization of quality monitoring programs within the ASC.
- Responsible for personal and staff development by maintaining nursing competencies.
- Completes all mandatory nursing competencies and educational requirements within a defined time frame.
- Participates in the preparation of staff development programs. Identifies self-learning needs, establishes personal and professional goals to meet those needs and evaluates attainment of set goals.
- Demonstrates a positive, concerned and sensitive response in the workplace.

Job Type: Part-Time (Tuesday - Thursday: 7:45am -- 5:00pm)
Pay: Based on Experience ($30.00 - $35.00 per hour)

- Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
- BSN preferred.
Certifications:
- Current state license as Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) complete ACLS training successfully within 6 months of hire.
- If performing moderate/procedural sedation must have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire.

Work Experience:
- One year of clinical experience as a RN in a perioperative or critical care setting.
Physical Requirements:
- Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
