We welcome you to our unit by providing educational enhancements and a comprehensive orientation to ensure you are prepared to care for those who entrust us with their care. Our 17-bed ICU/CSICU is home to highly-trained staff who care for a wide-range of patients (neonates to geriatrics) and is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. We provide care for cardiovascular patients who have undergone coronary artery bypass grafting, thoracotomy, carotid stenting, heart valve replacement or repair, as well as a variety of other vascular related interventions. Our team is very experienced in caring for those undergoing interventional and non-interventional procedures, general surgery procedures, and advanced therapies requiring specialized equipment such as intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), induced hypothermia, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and the Impella Heart Pump. Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and provide for the educational needs of the nursing staff, coordinates the orientation of new staff, and serves as a resource for patients and others.
- Assist director in identifying staff, physician, and patient needs and developing educational programs.
- Participates actively on hospital committees, collaborates with other hospital units and educators to enhance hospital-wide educational opportunities.
- Serves as a resource in developing relevant unit specific education by scheduling in-service programs for new supplies, equipment, and instruments.
- Utilizes evidence based practice to teach clinical staff the safe delivery of high quality care to patients and families.
- Accountable for teaching staff to provide care to the patient as well as the nursing decision regarding which tasks can be safely delegated to licensed and unlicensed persons involved in patient care.
- Collaborate with all members of the health care team with a focus on promoting evidence-based care within a healing culture for the patient population served and their families.
Job Requirements:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. ADN required. BSN or MSN preferred.
- Licensure: Current Arkansas or Compact State RN License in good standing.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years critical care experience is required; minimum of three (3) years CSICU experience preferred.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS and PALS required within first year of employment. CCRN required within two (2) years of employment.
