JOB SUMMARY
The Nursing Education Coordinator is a registered professional nurse who has the expertise in education and/or specific area of nursing practice. (S)He is responsible and accountable for the development and application of the Standards of Care with Newark Beth Israel Medical Center / Children’s Hospital of NJ at NBIMC, in an effort to enhance the quality of care provided to patients and families. The primary function is that of an educator, practitioner, consultant and change agent. This person must be able to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate education initiatives/programs. This person will execute the role in alignment with the American Nurses Association Scope and Standards of Practice and the Association for Nursing Professional Development Scope and Standards of Practice.
ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assesses learning needs of a group of employees and identifies priority learning needs in congruence with organizational goals, trended data and regulatory standards
- Plans, designs, and implements evaluation plans for the following programs/projects: RN and LPN on-boarding, RN Contracted/Agency staff orientation, RN and LPN Competency Assessment Program, Nurse Externship, Felician University Undergraduate Senior Immersion Program, Practice Transition Accreditation Program RN Residency Site Coordinator, Product Evaulation, Nursing Orientation Unit for RN Integration, support and health program
- Coordinates and implements cost effective performance initiatives designed to close the performance gap or to raise the performance bar
- Leads complex work groups and projects that increase the performance of staff and enhances performance improvement initiatives
- Evaluates, documents and reports outcomes
- Acts as a change agent for new departmental and organizational processes
- Serves as a clinical resource for the nursing staff and health care providers to achieve optimal patient outcomes
- Disseminates recent innovations and research findings relevant to education, nursing practice and patient outcomes to foster evidence-based practice
- Links nurses to Professional Development and other relevant resources
- Evaluates the outcomes of education programs
As part of the CPDIR leadership, serves as a resource to the educators, assists with problem solving as needed and provides input for staff evaluations
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.
Masters Degree (MSN or MS preferred) required.
Current NJ RN licensure required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in specialty required.
Maintains ACLS, PALS, NRP as appropriate.
BLS required
