The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients during a shift, and ensuring positive patient care outcomes are achieved. They manage all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment, and promote collaboration with all members of the healthcare team, family, and caretakers to provide compassionate care. Additionally, the RN may be required to float to other patient care areas as needed to ensure appropriate staffing levels and to provide safe, high-quality nursing care.
- Conducts comprehensive psychosocial and physical assessments of patients, determines patient problems, age-based needs, desired outcomes and nursing interventions.
- Implements nursing interventions and oversees licensed practical nurses, evaluates nursing outcomes and participates in performance improvement initiatives.
- Collaborates with healthcare team members, liaises with physicians, and participates in utilization review, discharge planning, and case management.
- Demonstrates accountability for professional practice within legal and regulatory parameters, maintains competencies, and advocates for patient rights.
- Ensures a safe, clean, efficient, and caring environment, models professional behavior reflective of the nursing care philosophy, and maintains patient and employee confidentiality.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN qualification and nursing specialty certification preferred.
Experience
- Experience in acute and/or forensic settings preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
- Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice, or be eligible for same through reciprocity with other states.
