A distinguished nonprofit mental health organization in New York City is in search of a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) for its Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team situated in the Bronx.
About the Opportunity:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 9am to 5pm (with a 1 hour unpaid lunch)
- Setting: Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team
- Patient Population: Adults (Ages 18+ year) with with mental health issues
- The nurse will be provided with an unlimited MetroCard
Responsibilities:
The Registered Nurse (RN) will:
- Engage in daily morning meetings
- Manage and plan medication distribution, including injectables, for consumers within the community
- Maintain and revise the monthly Injectable Medication (IM) calendar
- Administer IMs and prepare oral medications for weekly distribution by the clinical team
- Conduct staff training to ensure adherence to program policies and procedures regarding medication management and secure record-keeping
- Collaborate with team prescribers and pharmacies to ensure consumers receive medications and refills
- Transcribe orders and update Medication Administration Records
- Record medication deliveries and complete toxicology request forms
- Monitor consumers' vital signs and medication side effects, reporting findings to the team
- Conduct annual nursing assessments and daily progress notes
- Evaluate physical health needs and refer consumers to community physicians as necessary
- Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Team Leader, aligned with program goals and objectives
Qualifications:
- Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Experience serving the mentally ill/mentally ill chemically addicted (MICA) population
- Proficiency in comprehending diverse evidence-based models and theories related to psycho-education, motivational interviewing, serious mental illness, and recovery
- Competence in utilizing an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
- Knowledge of mental health, and skills in crisis intervention and stabilization
Desired Skills:
- Master's Degree in Nursing
