SalaryThe Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity as a Registered Nurse at the Montana Veteran’s Home.
The Montana Veterans' Home (MVH) located in Columbia Falls is a Medicare/Medicaid and Veterans' Administration certified facility with 105 intermediate/skilled-care beds and 12 domiciliary beds. The nursing facility includes a 15-bed Dementia Care unit. MVH has been providing services to Veterans since 1896. The Montana Veterans' Home is located next to the Flathead River just minutes away from Glacier National Park. A large pavilion, walking paths and protected courtyards provide ample opportunities for outdoor access. The facility offers individual and group activities, spiritual services, support group services and social services. The skilled and rehabilitative services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and dietitian services.
Registered Nurses (RNs) provide nursing care to residents. Responsibilities include performing nursing assessments, treatments/procedures, administering medications, coordinating care, maintaining records, and providing nursing support to physicians. Work schedules vary by availability and may include shift differential pay.
This position is eligible for a statutory $1.50 an hour base pay increase effective July 1, 2024 and a hiring incentive up to $7,500. Find out more by visiting work4dphhs.com.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity
- Knowledge of nursing, medications, and treatment planning.
- Knowledge of patient’s rights regarding medical treatment.
- Knowledge of current psychopharmacology.
- Skill in the use of the basic instruments and equipment of the nursing profession.
- Ability to plan and implement appropriate nursing care interventions.
- Ability to perform accurate and thorough work.
- Ability to provide patient assessment and appropriate documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to analyze, assemble, and organize information.
- Ability to proficiently utilize technology related to patient care information systems.
