Duties include:
Directs nursing and home healthcare as prescribed by the attending physician
Reviews all plans of treatments for accuracy, appropriateness and completeness
Maintains accurate records of all services rendered to patients
Evaluates and regularly reevaluates the therapy and nursing needs of each patient
Performs initial admission assessment and evaluation of the Agency’s patients
Ability to assess adequately and reassess pain
Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques
Educates the patient and family regarding pain management
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
Reports to the physician the patient’s response to treatments, including drugs, and changes in the patient’s physical or emotional condition
Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and patient’s clinical position
Follows the five (5) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors
Teaches, supervises and counsels the patient and family members regarding the nursing care needs
Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age
Addresses and supports cultural practices, as long as such practices do not harm others or interfere with the planned course of medical therapy
Supports and carries out the Agency’s policies
Participates in the Agency’s information management and performance improvement programs
Assures that monthly case conferences are done on each patient, recorded and filed in patient’s chart
Completes annual educational requirements
Maintains regulatory requirements
Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean
Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community
Requirements
Bachelors or Associates Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program
Registered Nurse, currently licensed in the state of Kansas
Valid state drivers license
Preferred:
Public Health Nursing experience desirable with a minimum of two (2) years in a community health setting.
