Position Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) provides skilled nursing services to patients under the direction of a professional medical doctor, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant, and provides a variety of related services to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment. The functions of the Registered Nurse are to collect patient health data, analyze the data to determine diagnoses, identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient, develop a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain the expected outcomes, implement the interventions identified in the plan of care, and evaluate the patient's progress toward attainment of the outcomes, working collaboratively with the healthcare team. Performs professional nursing work of considerable difficulty including the care of patients as outlined by physicians and the objectives and policies of the organization. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Reviews patient records, assuring they are complete with regard to previously ordered studies such as laboratory reports, x-ray reports, electrocardiogram reports, etc.
- Assures that examining rooms assigned are properly equipped in terms of disposable supplies and also assures that all equipment is in working order.
- Understands the precertification process and may call for pre-certifications. Works with patient account representatives and secretaries to facilitate referrals and patient care. Alerts physician to needed documentation in charting.
- Gathers patient information for vital signs, medication reconciliation, allergies, etc.
- Assist physicians with examinations and procedures as necessary.
- Maintains patient and practice confidentiality.
- Maintains a professional demeanor at all times with patients, caregivers, physicians, and coworkers.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education (Including Licenses and Certifications): Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina. BLS/CPR Certified. ACLS/PALS is required in specialty areas as determined by accrediting bodies. Experience: Experience working with an EMR system preferred. Two years of clinical/ambulatory nursing experience is preferred.
