Under the direct supervision of the Health Department Manager the Registered Nurse will manage Preventive Health (PH), and Immunization (IZ) clinics to serve clients, for families, and the community. Provide services per agency policies, procedures, and standing medical orders, and patient specific medical orders.
Patient Care Services (PH and IZ)
All services granted are maintained under the agency's confidentiality and all care is documented per the agency's policies and procedures.
Utilize the nursing process to assess the health of clients including: obtaining an appropriate history and risk assessment per program policy, performing physical exams on males and females per program policy, obtaining appropriate stat lab, including pregnancy test and referred lab per program policy, maintains confidentiality and documents care/services per agency policies/procedures.
Provide services that are provisions of risk-based education to include Sexual Transmitted Diseases (STD), Sexual Transmitted Infection (STI) and reproductive health planning, Methods of birth control benefits. Refer as indicated for abnormal findings, mental health, tobacco cessation, substance abuse, etc.
Provide follow-up per program guidelines to include: teen follow-up, abnormal Pap Smear follow-up, positive laboratory test follow-up, referral follow-up, maintaining confidentiality and documenting all care and services.
Implement care plans to include identifying and initiating appropriate interventions, to include education and counselings based on identified needs; administering, dispensing medications, treatments, and Immunizations according to the current standing medical orders or individual patient medical orders and initiating follow-up on referrals when indicated, which involves the patient in decision-making.
Maintain professional accountability as a licensed nurse
Emergency Preparedness:
Participate in Emergency Preparedness and Response, assists with Medical Needs Shelter (MNS) operations, maintain supportive nursing practice competencies to include, but not limited to, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal best practice injection administration, oral medication administration, and client emergency response including First Aid, CPR and AED and be willing and available to assist during times of public health emergency response.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Agency Additional Requirements:
Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification; if not certified employee must receive within 30 days of employment.
DRIVING RECORD: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver’s license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.
