Job Title:Outpatient Infusion Registered Nurse
Reports To: Clinical Oncology Manager
Job Summary: Provides clinical support to all providers, the clinical staff and patients of the Oncology Service line.
Effectively provides Person Centered care and services
Job Responsibilities: *Perform standard nursing assessment on all patients
*Administer intravenous medications *Communicate with outside facilities to provide continuity of care *Perform various specialty tests
-Obtain vital signs
-Review and complete medical history
-Report any acute illnesses to ordering provider
-Confirm medication is indicated for patient condition
-Confirm appropriate dosing and route
-Observe and assess patient per protocol, including frequent vital signs
-Monitor for and respond appropriately in the event of an adverse reaction or
infusion related reaction
-Coordinate treatment plans and frequency
-Obtain up to date history and physical on each patient
-Clarification on orders and/or needed labs
Requirements: Education: Associates of applied science of nursing from accredited institution.
Experience: Minimum of 1-year med/surg nursing experience.
Licensure: NYS registration to preform duties of a registered nurse. Oncology Nursing Society chemotherapy/biotherapy provider card within 1 year of employment.
Physical Requirements: Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, unit-dose cassettes, and IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time (4-8 hours) is often necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
