Job Overview of Registered Nurse-Per Diem
Under the supervision of The Chief Nurse, administers nursing care to a diverse multicultural injured, convalescent, or disabled pediatric/adult patients; safely administers specific medications to patients.

Essential Duties of Registered Nurse-Per Diem
Key duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Understanding and supporting the agency’s mission & treatment philosophy:
- Treats all children, families and co-workers with respect & courtesy
- Demonstrates and models sensitivity to cultural background of children, families and co-workers
- Honors Sanctuary Commitments in all day to day activities
- Provides nursing care to multiple pediatric residents
- Treats all children, families and co-workers with respect & courtesy
- Accurate Physical/Emotional Assessment of patients
- Documentation of nurse findings in electronic medical record (Omni)
- Communicates with treatment team and parents as needed
- Identifies potential health and safety risks and communicates immediately with Chief Nurse to resolve issues/concerns immediately
- Documentation
- Documents nurse findings in electronic medical record (Omni)
- Documents medication administration in medication administration record
- Completes Staff injury report per Agency guidelines
- Provides input into the Daily Health Center report as requested
- Completes other documentation as requested

- Safely manages all aspects of job responsibilities:
- Maintains a safe & hazard–free work area. Effectively monitors facilities & equipment for cleanliness and hazards. Informs Chief Nurse in timely manner.
- Identifies potential program risks and brings issues to the attention of the Chief Nurse in timely manner.
- Attends non-mandatory Agency meetings/training as requested.
- Supports overall strategic plan of the organization

Essential Qualifications of Registered Nurse-Per Diem
Key qualifications include:
- Registered Nurse, New York State Registered Nurse. Basic Life Support (BLS) current certification.
- At least three (3) years clinical experience with pediatric nursing or primary care in mental health or pediatric health setting preferred. Residential experience preferred.
- Description of general skill set: Professional demeanor; Strong oral and written communication skills. Safe clinical nursing and medication administration experience. Experience and sensitivity to diverse multicultural nursing population.
- Specific skill set: Strong nursing clinical skills: physical/mental/emotional assessment skills of pediatric patients, including support of family. Experience with trauma preferred.
- Ability to adhere to our organization’s core values. Demonstrated emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stressors.
- Background in Pediatric and Family Nursing; Community Health; Patient-Family Relations (Customer Relations) preferred.
- NYS Driver’s License
- Ability to access and utilize ADP app on smartphone or other device.
Physical/Travel Requirements of Registered Nurse Per Diem
Ability to carry out these motions:
- Reach
- Walk
- Climb Stairs
- Bend
- Candidates who are successfully hired, must participate in our Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training which concludes with a written and verbal test, and you will be evaluated on conducting a proper physical restraint.
