Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

Responsibilities:

• Conducts complete patient evaluation prior to procedure, including review of patient history and diagnostic tests, as well as physical and psychological assessments. Ensures patient/family/caregiver understands the procedure and the peri-operative process. Obtains and witnesses consent form.
• Assumes responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participates in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy.
• Recognizes emergency situations and responds effectively in a calm and controlled manner.
• Performs Phase 2 recovery as needed, including discharge, education, and planning.
• Typical work schedule: 6am - 4:30pm, 4 days a week.  Variable  days off, 9 hour  shifts. Limited  call; will cross train to PACU. One holiday per year.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing school, ADN or BSN required.
• Current Kansas RN licensure or multi-state compact license required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required; PALS to be obtain within 90 days of hire
• 1-year experience, critical care  preferred.
