Position: Registered Nurse OB ED Triage Unit RN
Location: St. Agnes Medical Center, 1303 E Herndon Ave. Fresno, CA 93720
Shift: 12 Hour shifts, self-scheduling
Pay Range: Depends on experience between $44.23 – $64.14 plus benefits
*May be adjusted based on career ladder placement

Position Requirements:
License: CA RN License
Certifications: BLS, ACLS (within 90 days), NRP (within 90 days), C-EFM or FMC (within 1 year)
Experience: 1 year of related experience
Education: Associates required
About the Unit
Reporting to the Practice Coordinator, OB ED, the Registered Nurse (Level I, II, III or IV) is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process. The Registered Nurse, after appropriate educational preparation, is capable of expanding the scope of practice in general or specialty areas of nursing. The criteria and specific job duties of the four levels are defined by each department area specific criteria.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, family, and health care personnel is required.
- Ability to handle varying issues in the midst of any situation and work effectively individually and as a member of a team within a stress-producing environment is required.
- Utilizes the Nursing Process to appropriately assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient and infant care.
- Provides the following care for mother and infant: Assists mother with her hygienic needs; checks mother for any post-partum bleeding; examines mother’s fundus; Inspects C-section incision (if applicable); monitors bonding between mother and infant; complies and implements the 10 steps of baby friendly; educates mother on sore nipple management; weighs/bathes infant; and performs heel sticks.
- Delivers individualized quality patient care through a coordinated team approach with physicians, staff, other departments and the patient’s family and/or significant others.
- Assesses mother’s pain and utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient, family and/or significant other regarding pain management.
- Educates the mothers about infant care, including bathing tips and diaper changing; involves and educates family/significant others in implementing best practices for mother and infant care.
- Assists new mothers with physical and emotional needs during the post-partum period and performs emotional status checks on mother, recognizing symptoms such as those related to post-partum depression.
