Description
The RN Neuro-Oncology Coordinator is a Registered Nurse who is an active member of the multidisciplinary team who collaborates with physicians, PAs, NPs and MAs in the development, execution, and evaluation of the multidisciplinary plan care of the Neuro-Oncology patients. This coordinator assists patients and families as they receive care from different specialties, arrange follow up so that transitions from service to service were as smooth as possible, make sure medical information/record are transferred, schedules and make sure consults/procedures with other services are scheduled and occur.
Requirements
- Triages all brain tumor patient related phone encounters.
- Provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to patients and families at the expert level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process.
- Work with a specific multidisciplinary disease team to deliver quality and safety of care through the continuum of care from the patient's first clinic visit, and throughout the continuation of their care while at NMCC as needed.
- Work closely with the other clinical team members (Physicians, APPs, MAs, LPNs, RNs, etc.) and coordinate care appropriately during clinic.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years nursing experience. 2 years Oncology nursing experience preferred.
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Louisiana Board of Nursing or a compact state.
- Microsoft Office knowledge, preferred.
- Insurance knowledge & referral knowledge
