- Perform all tasks according to VLPP Medical Standards and Guidelines as well as relevant HIPAA, CLIA, OSHA, ASC and other regulatory requirements, including infection control standards and security guidelines.
- Serve as a Recovery Room nurse on procedure days. The nurse may also be performing ultrasounds, patient histories and providing education/consent as needed. Will be responsible for clearing the recovery room and assuring the rooms are stocked and ready for patient care.
- Completes pre-sedation patient assessments and prepares patients for procedures, including collecting baseline vitals and IV starts.
- Supervise patient recovery area following procedures according to MS&G standards including assessing for stability for discharge and alerting clinician to any signs of complication. Provide discharge instructions to patients, including: what to expect after an abortion and/or sedation, review of emergency precautions and how to contact VLPP staff in case of emergencies, contraceptive education, additional support resources, etc.
- Prepare recovery room including cleaning and stocking supplies and equipment prior to each clinic session and between patients; monitor inventory and report supply needs to HCM
- Prepare medications for administration per physician’s instructions including drawing up and labeling lidocaine and/or saline; count/co-sign narcotics records as necessary.
- Coordinate and/or administer emergency procedures as needed and per provider’s instructions. Perform inventory of crash carts and notify HCM when supplies are low. Complete any additional Quality Assurance tasks ( ex. ASC logs, checking oxygen, monthly emergency carts, AED, etc).
- Provide support to patients calling with concerns after their care at VLPP through the Clinical Consultation Line including checking and deleting messages hourly, calling any messages with any clinical component back within 60 minutes, charting with EHR and tasking for appropriate follow up if necessary.
- Perform accurate and thorough medical record documentation in patient records as required per MS&Gs.
- Participate in affiliate training programs by attending scheduled group trainings and meetings, reading and integrating assigned written materials and completing individual CAL modules as required; assist in efforts to train new staff as necessary.
- Participate in the center's quality assurance program, to include test verification procedures and equipment performance and integrity checks.
- Participate in clinic efforts to achieve customer service, productivity and revenue goals; demonstrate commitment to center’s operating values of patient-centered care, team approach to work and consistent regulatory compliance/inspection readiness.
- If bilingual, provide interpretation/translation as needed to clients and other staff (successful bilingual assessment on file required)
- Perform other duties as needed/required.
