The nurse to patient ratio is a 2:1 for ICU levels of care. However, for bed management purposes they could have MNS level patients and a higher ratio by themselves with someone on call. There is a supervisor in-house that could assist them until the on-call nurse arrives. There are generally 2 nurses on unless the unit low volume census a nurse but would have back up available until that nurse comes in.
