IU Health Hospice provides patients and their families comprehensive, family-centered care delivered by a highly trained interdisciplinary team. General inpatient (GIP) hospice nurses, in collaboration with the bedside nurse, coordinate and manage care of those patients that are not stable enough to return home for routine hospice care. GIP is offered at all of the Indianapolis area hospitals. The traditional, complementary, alternative, and holistic services that our Hospice professionals offer, add to our patient's overall quality of life.
The general inpatient (GIP) Hospice Nurse works with patients and families to coordinate Hospice services. Responsibilities would include speaking with patients and families about the process of transitioning to hospice care with a focus on comfort, completing the hospice assessment and GIP admission, and coordinating discharges for patients moving to Home Hospice or other Hospice facilities.
There is expected travel between the Indianapolis area hospitals as needed. There may also be intermittent need for the GIP nurse to assist with routine home hospice needs within the community. Mileage reimbursement is offered for any travel associated with this position.
