Job Description
We are searching for a dedicated Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) nurse to deliver vital care to seriously ill or injured patients in our IMCU department. As an IMCU nurse, you will be treating patients who are complex cardiology patients, transferred out of MICU, and post procedure patients with complex medical issues.
You will perform a range of tasks including performing diagnostic tests, conducting follow-up visits, monitoring patient recovery, and responding to medical emergencies. In addition to having a highly analytical mindset, our ideal candidate will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of ventilated patients, arterial lines, Flolan, and cardiac pacing is necessary. Must know IMCU core competencies.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and monitor the patients progress.
- Identify sudden or subtle changes in a patients medical condition.
- Deliver regular updates to doctors, patients, and their family members.
- Begin treatment and monitor doses.
- Stable doses of dopamine, neo-synephrine, diltiazem, dobutamine, nitroglycerine (non-titrated)
- If necessary, respond to a medical emergency and alert the appropriate doctors.
- Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in the IMCU unit.
- Complete all necessary paperwork before transferring a patient.
- Maintain patient records.
- Create and implement effective care plans.
Requirements:
- State RN License
- At least 1 years experience as an RN in an acute care unit.
- Good understanding of health information structures and technology.
- Basic life support understanding.
- Demonstrate empathy and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a stressful and emotional environment.
