Are you passionate about women’s health? Is your goal to be a Labor and Delivery or Mother Baby Nurse?
The aim of this program is to support the novice RN to transition into the role of a maternity nurse. Integrated with AHWONN’s Perinatal Education and Orientation Program (PEOP), features will include a combination of online course work, instructor-led classes, skills labs and two clinical tracks, one designed for Labor and Delivery and one designed for Mother and Baby.
At the conclusion of the PEOP, participants will be awarded 50.25 continuing education credits and will have received 6 months of clinical bedside experience with rotations throughout relative roles.
The Perinatal Nurse Residency Program is available throughout the Atlantic Health System and the job description of positions may vary from site to site. Non BSN graduates will be required to complete their BSN within 5 years of employment. All participants are asked to agree to a 2 year employment commitment at AHS.
Essential Job Functions:
- Candidate will have the ability to utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate the plan of care for patients served
- Through the model of Shared Governance, collaborate with all members of the health care team with a focus on promoting evidenced based care within a healing culture for the patient population served and their families
- Candidate will demonstrate and embrace the PRIDE core values in every aspect of their job
- Candidate must have excellent communication and computer skills
Ideal candidate:
- Recent graduate who has passed RN license and/or RN with < 1 year of experience
- BSN preferred but not required
- Strong interest in becoming a Maternity Nurse
Residency is expected to begin the end of September 2024. Candidate must have license in hand prior to the start of the program.
