Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
The Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) is an internationally recognized global leader in clinical care, research, and education. With its home-base located at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG), the Division has been ranked as the top facility in the country for AIDS care since 1983. The Division’s work is featured frequently in the media, and it is often visited by numerous international, national, state, and local dignitaries and delegations. The Division consists of approximately 36 faculty members, 11 fellows/postdoctoral scholars and 170 academic and staff employees. It is the largest Division of the Department of Medicine (DOM) at ZSFG, with a total expenditure budget of approximately $52 million dollars.
Required Qualifications
- BSN
- Six (6) months+ of clinical experience
- Minimum twelve (12) months experience providing direct services administering injectable medications to people living with HIV for treatment and people at risk of HIV acquisition for prevention.
- Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
- Advanced knowledge of harm reduction principles and experience working within a harm reduction patient care model, such as syringe access programs
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year experience with HIV prevention counseling (PrEP/PEP).
- One (1) year experience providing direct services to people experiencing psychiatric crisis: mental health status and safety assessments, and 5150 status.
- HIV/AIDS Certified Registered Nurse (ACRN) Certification.
- Experience working with patients experiencing homelessness or unstable housing.
- Experience working with patients with mental health and/or substance use problems.
License/Certification
- CA licensure as Registered Nurse (RN); possession of legal requirements to practice as a Registered Nurse as determined by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Experience working with patients living with HIV/AIDS.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
