Currently, The Northeast Health District is seeking a Registered Nurse to float to the Madison and Elbert County Health Departments with travel compensation provided. Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures. Provides services in all programs; immunization, WIC, Family Planning, Women's Health, Diabetes, Hypertension, STD, etc. to the general public. Assess each patient's condition, develops a plan of care, provides treatments, educates patients, and makes referrals as appropriate. Provides outreach services and other key preventive health services to the community.

As a Registered Nurse within the Madison and Elbert County Health Departments at the Georgia Department of Public Health,you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.
  • Under broad supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures.
  • Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations.
  • Cares for populations with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols.
  • Provides treatments for sexually transmitted infections, performs well-women exams including pap smears, pelvic exams, breast exams, and provides preventive and maintenance care to patient/families consistent with the care plan and nurse protocols.
  • This position will also administer medications to include (Birth control, STI treatments, TB medications and vaccines).
  • This position requires the ability to function as part of a team as well as the ability to provide direct client services in a clinic setting.
Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registration Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.
Note: No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year of nursing experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.
OR
Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification
Annual salary $60,000. Plus, generous benefits include 13 paid holidays, annual and sick leave, health insurance, and retirement plans.

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
