SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This job is responsible for providing direct patient care as part of a perioperative (operating room) team, assisting the operating surgeon by performing activities such as maintaining hemostasis, providing wound exposure, manipulating tissues with surgical instrumentation (e.g.suturing, wound closure) and other related tasks. An incumbent uses acquired and intuitive knowledge to anticipate, prevent and/or respond to circumstances that could compromise the patient's well-being; documents patient/family pre-operative care and teaching, operative roles following surgical procedure, post-operative care/assessment, and discharge planning in accordance with established guidelines. Work is performed under the direction of an operating surgeon and within the scope of practice.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
Bachelor's degree in Nursing
Two (2) years nursing experience
Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by the State of employment
Certification in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR)
BLS required prior to orientation completion. Must be obtained through Penn State Health or American Heart Association (AHA).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Certification as an RN-First Assistant (CRNFA) preferred.

Pay: $41.22 - $61.83 per hour
