** Night Shift 3 x12s - shift 645pm-715am- Plus Night Shift differential**
JOB SUMMARY
Provides direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Department setting. Assesses patients, using nursing judgement and appropriate screening protocols to determine unmet healthcare needs. Uses ESI Triage Scoring to prioritize care and treatment. Organizes interventions to address identified needs, including performing interventions, facilitating referrals, obtaining medical orders, or providing education and case management support for the patient. Effectively communicates identified needs and care plan with the multidisciplinary care team including providers, pharmacists, dieticians, social workers, case managers, and more. Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions and adjusts the care plan accordingly. Must respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or responses to treatment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform patient assessment considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age. Uses appropriate screening tools effectively. Applies the ESI Triage Scale to determine patient's acuity.
Demonstrates understanding of pathophysiology, disease processes, and treatment standards. Applies nursing diagnoses to identified needs.
Formulates a care plan based upon identified needs and facilitates interventions and referrals as appropriate.
Performs interventions in a competent manner, applying evidence-based standards of care and protocols to guide actions. Knowledgeable regarding medications, indications, interactions, and contraindications, considering age of the patient and their clinical condition. Evaluates effectiveness of all interventions.
Formulates individualized teaching plans, evaluating effectiveness of learning. Patient and family interactions are professional.
Familiar with Policies, Procedures, and Protocols. Care and Documentation meets current standards of practice and complies with all such guidelines.
Other duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the department and organizational performance in accordance with Curry Health Network's Mission, Vision, and Shared Values.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
  • Current Unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse Licensure is required. BSN Preferred.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS (or ENPC), and TNCC (Emergency Nurse Association) or ATCN are required; NRP Advanced (American Heart Association) and STABLE certifications are preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in an Acute Care setting is required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Emergency Department setting is preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Computer skills are required, specifically using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); prior use of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for documenting in patient records is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, clinical judgment, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to work well in high pressure situations is required.
  • Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner.

This job requires exposure to the following environmental conditions:

From 1/3 to 1/2 of the time: no requirement
The typical noise level for the work environment is: very quiet to moderate noise.
Hearing requirements: ability to hear alarms on equipment, patient call and instructions.
