The Cardiac Rehab Staff Nurse reports to the MMH Cardiac Rehabilitation Site Manager. The Registered Nurse supervises medically prescribed exercise therapy appropriate to client’s age, medical and emotional/mental status. The RN provides education classes, concentrating on client’s understanding of the cardiovascular system and heart-healthy life style modifications necessary to maintaining optimum health. The Cardiac Nurse is accountable for staffing in all areas of patient services under Cardiac Rehab/Cardiac Stress/TEE and is responsible for marketing of program, orientation of the cardiac patient and participating in Quality Improvement. The Cardiac Nurse will participate in the operational duties of the department, such as but not limited to: Quality Improvement, Policy and Procedure maintenance, revising and development of billing, gathering of statistical data, developing departmental educational opportunities and participating in the on-going growth and maintenance of the excellent customer services provided to all that ECHN serves.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- The Registered Nurse must be a graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program
- Have a current Connecticut license.
- Required education includes Certification in cardiovascular clinical care (coronary care course) and current BCLS and ACLS certification.
EXPERIENCE
- Must have a minimum of two years recent acute/emergent care experience.
COMPETENCIES
- The incumbent must be proficient in cardiac monitoring and be sedation conscious and IV competent.
