We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse with expertise in Behavioral Health to join our healthcare team. As a Registered Nurse in our Behavioral Health department, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive care, support, and treatment to patients dealing with Behavioral Health issues. Your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities to ensure the well-being and recovery of our patients.
Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct thorough assessments of patients to determine their mental health needs, including the assessment of psychiatric symptoms, emotional stability, and behavioral patterns.
- Treatment Planning: Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans for patients. Implement evidence-based interventions and therapies tailored to each patient's needs.
- Medication Management: Administer and monitor psychiatric medications as prescribed by healthcare providers, while closely monitoring patients for any adverse effects or changes in condition.
- Patient Education: Provide education to patients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies. Ensure patients have a clear understanding of their care plans.
- Crisis Intervention: Respond to and manage behavioral crises, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients and staff. Utilize de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention skills as needed.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough electronic medical records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and assessments, in compliance with legal and organizational requirements.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate and provide holistic care for patients.
- Advocacy: Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring that their rights and preferences are respected, and that they receive the highest quality of care.
- Safety: Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, ensuring proper monitoring and intervention as needed to prevent self-harm or harm to others.
- Continuing Education: Stay current with the latest developments in the field of Behavioral Health nursing through ongoing education and professional development.
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Previous experience in Behavioral Health or psychiatric nursing strongly preferred.
- Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Knowledge of psychiatric medications and treatment modalities.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required depending on facility policies.
