The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for the provision of leadership in evaluating and improving patient care through collaborative strategies with others. S/he is responsible for advising the Nurse Manager of issues on the unit and potential resolution of issues. The Assistant Nurse Manager functions as an effective change agent, utilizing effective communication skills to implement improvements in patient care. At the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager initiates interdisciplinary projects to improve organization performance and evaluates the effect on patient care and workload utilizing professional standards of care and practice. In the absence of the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager maintains 24/7 accountability for professional nursing practice in assigned areas. The Assistant Nurse Manager possesses the knowledge and skills to effectively apply all aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative and interdisciplinary practice setting.
Demonstrates specialized knowledge and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and participating in innovative process improvement initiatives
