Job Description: Registered Nurse

Responsibilities:
1. Patient Screening and Assessment:
- Conduct initial screenings and comprehensive assessments of patients' physical and mental health statuses before beginning treatment.
- Continuously monitor patients' vital signs and psychological responses during ketamine infusions.
2. Ketamine Administration:
- Administer ketamine under the guidance of a physician, adhering to protocols for dosage, timing, and patient monitoring.
- Manage IV lines, monitor infusion rates, and adjust as necessary based on protocol and patient response.
3. Safety Preparedness:
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed during therapy sessions.
4. Therapeutic Environment Management:
- Create and maintain a safe, calm, and supportive environment conducive to therapeutic experiences.
- Adjust lighting, sound, and room setup to meet patient needs and preferences.
5. Patient Support and Guidance:
- Provide emotional support and guidance to patients during the ketamine experience, helping them navigate any challenging or intense moments.
- Assist patients in understanding and integrating their experiences post-infusion.
6. Collaborative Care Planning:
- Work closely with psychiatrists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss patient progress, challenges, and adjustments to treatment plans.
7. Patient and Family Education:
- Educate patients and their families about the process of ketamine therapy, what to expect, potential side effects, and aftercare.
- Provide resources and support for mental health improvement and maintenance.
8. Documentation and Compliance:
- Keep detailed records of all patient care activities, treatment responses, and any adverse events.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, standards, and ethical guidelines.
Required Skills:
1. Clinical Expertise:
- Proficient in IV therapy, patient assessment, and emergency response.
- Knowledgeable about the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of ketamine and its use in psychiatric treatment.

In this role, the RN is crucial in ensuring that ketamine therapy is delivered safely and effectively, with a focus on patient-centered care and collaboration with the broader mental health treatment team.
Requirements
Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school
Licensing: Current California nursing license
Experience: One year of work experience in a dynamic ambulatory care setting is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team.
Personal Attributes: Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to work independently.
