Overview
The RN reports to the nurse manager or the Director of Nursing. The RN is responsible for using the Nursing Process to meet the needs of patients according to the professional standards of nursing care. The RN assures that the philosophy, mission, goals and objectives, policies and procedures of the Nursing Department and Client Ozark are followed. The RN is responsible for the quality of care of patients; delegates appropriately and directs staff in the delivery of care; assumes responsibility for the appropriate utilization of resources; collaborates with medical staff and others in provision of care; is sensitive to the needs of patients, families and fellow co-workers, plans and provides professional nursing care for patients in accordance with age specific needs; plans and provides professional nursing care for patients in accordance with any identified cultural diversity needs (such as religions, lifestyles, beliefs, physical capabilities and cultures); plans and provides professional nursing care for patients by assuring approbate and effective pain management; assess, report and assist any patients that present with evidence of abuse and /or neglect; and supports the mission of MHTM. Co-workers are expected to abide by Client Ozark safety and infection control policies to maintain a safe environment for patients and co workers Competent to provide nursing services to the age of the specific population of assigned areas. Including Pediatric, Adolescent and Geriatric Patients, Special Care Unit Emergency Room, Endoscopy, PAR and may be asked to train for Surgery. Accompany critical patient transport with the EMS.
General Comments
Qualifications Education: Graduation from an approved school of nursing. Licensure: Current RN licensure by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing. Experience: Entry level. Certifications: BLS required on hire. ACLS, required within 6 months of hire date through the American Heart Association. Other: Able to perform assessments and to critical think in emergency situations. Preferred Other: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing Service, the Registered Nurse is responsible for the quality of care of a caseload of patients. She/ He plans and delivers quality patient care utilizing the nursing process and within appropriate resources. Documentation of nursing care is complete and appropriate. The RN identifies actual risk to patients and others and initiates action to minimize or prevent risk. He/ She is able to make independent and appropriate clinical decisions and provide leadership to appropriate staff. The RN participates in programs and projects toward professional growth and development of self. The nurse assists with the implementation of educational programs for patients and families, and use effective communication principles and skills to achieve desired outcomes.
