Purpose of the Position: Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care and culturally appropriate health education, case coordination and management in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures. Focuses on the prevention of illness, the promotion of health, and maintenance of the health of populations. Provides intensive care coordination, support, and services to HIV-negative individuals who require assistance in assessing and remaining in PrEP care. Cares for population with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols. This position works to promote and protect the health and safety of the residents of Cobb and Douglas Counties.
Essential functions (include but not limited to):
Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
Works collaboratively with clinical staff and HIV Prevention team to identify potential PrEP clients and those in need of PrEP navigation services.
Provides HIV pre- and post-test client-centered counseling, comprehensive risk assessments, and risk reduction coaching; Conducts testing for infectious diseases, administers medications/vaccines and provides preventative and maintenance care to patients/families consistent with care plan and/or physician treatment plan.
External candidates: will be hired as a RN 2
Internal candidates: are eligible for a lateral transfer as a RN 2 or RN 3; must be currently working in the same job code
RN 2 Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification OR Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year of PHN experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.. $58,284 Annually/Pay Grade L
RN 3 Minimum Qualifications - Internal Only: Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year of nursing experience AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification OR Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND Two years of nursing experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification. $65,243 Annually/Pay Grade M
Preferred Job-Related Skills: Bachelor's degree in Nursing AND one year of nursing experience. Professional experience in public health nursing. Experience in the specialized area of assignment. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Some public health and infectious disease experience will be helpful. Ability to speak Spanish preferred but not required.

Work Conditions & Physical Demands: Position does not require an excessive physical exertion but is not a sedentary position. Requires occasional lifting of less than 50 pounds, walking to/from workstation and other clinical areas, and assisting with positioning and restraint of infants and children during vaccination. It does require flexibility of working in various areas of the clinic when necessary and some outreach.
