Summary/Objective
The Registered Nurse is responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to patients of any age group admitted to the area employed. The Registered Nurse provides direction to Licensed Vocational Nurses and non-licensed nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. The Registered Nurse supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the mission and objectives of the Hospital.
ANA Standards of Practice.
A. Assessment: the registered nurse collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or the situation.
B. Diagnosis: the registered nurse analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnoses or issues.
C. Outcomes Identification: the registered nurse identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation.
D. Planning: the registered nurse develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.
E. Implementation: the registered nurse implements the identified plan, coordinates care delivery, employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
F. Evaluation: the registered nurse evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
G. Quality of Practice: the registered nurse systematically enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice..

Required Education and Experience
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
TWO YEARS NICU EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Required License/Certifications
Current RN license in the State of Texas
BLS certification
Unit specific competencies obtained within six months of hire
