Position Summary
At Stony Brook Medicine, an EEGSpecialistis a valuable member of our team, who provides clinical services to our patient population. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.
Duties of a EEG Specialist may include the following but are not limited to:
  • Perform a wide range of electroencephalograms including routine, portable and continuous EEG.
  • Perform long term video EEG monitoring. Includes setup of patient, review and editing of EEG data and related duties.
  • Perform other electroneurodiagnostic examinations.
  • Maintain and inventory laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Help maintain laboratory and patient records including departmental databases.
  • Archive patient data.
  • Assist in the guidance of the technologist's continuing education and training.
  • Work with medical staff and Technologist's to acquire and improve EMG/NCV and/or EP skills.
  • In addition, this position requires an understanding of all components of the recording of the EEG for seizure recognition. This includes an understanding of grid and depth electrodes with appropriate montage design. Assisting in data analysis is also required.

Qualifications
Required: High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of an EEG program with at least one year experience as a EEG tech OR minimum 5 years experience as a EEG tech. Registration of the American Board of EEG and EP Technologists (ABRET). R.EEG T credential.
Preferred: Academic and/or clinical experience in EEG as well as EMG/NCV and/or Evoked Potentials Experience with epilepsy monitoring equipment and unit. Experience with long-term ICU monitoring.

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:
  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services*
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.
*The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $68,575 - $76,455.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
In addition, all full time UUP positions have a $3,026 location pay.
