Premise offers a wide range of dynamic, purpose-driven career opportunities. We are currently looking for a Full-Time Registered Dietitan/Wellness Coach to join our team, in our Wellness Center, in Lee's Summit, MO.
*Position will be scheduled for 30 hours per week.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Provides individual nutrition consultation and wellness coaching to members. Works with members one-on-one or in small groups virtually or in-person to assist in meeting health and wellness goals related to weight, nutrition, physical activity, stress, tobacco cessation, work/life balance and general health. May coordinate and promote onsite wellness programs and presentations for the client's employee population in a single contract.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Consults with site health care professionals to determine patient's nutrition risk and needs.
- Conducts a nutrition assessment, which includes obtaining a detailed nutrition history, review of risk factors, labs, and medical history, and identification of nutrition behaviors contributing to risk.
- Discusses results of nutrition assessment with patient identifying areas where patient can decrease health risks.
- Educates patient in nutrition principles, dietary plan, food selection, and preparation using available resources including but not limited to: pamphlets, books, handouts, videos, web based resources, classes and others.
- Establishes goals and objectives with patient to meet the nutrition care plan.
- Develops and implements plan of care and correlates plan with other healthcare professionals.
- Evaluates nutrition plan and provides follow-up as needed.
- Documents nutrition care plans and progress into patient's medical records.
- Engages in nutrition outcomes research.
- Delivers one on one and/or group coaching sessions in the areas of weight, nutrition, physical activity, stress, tobacco cessation, work/life balance and general health.
- May coordinate and conduct wellness programs and presentations in areas such as nutrition, lifestyle medicine, stress management, weight management, tobacco cessation, physical activity and others. This includes development of programs, marketing, presentation, and evaluation.
- Promotes a culture of health and wellness through ongoing participation in client worksite meetings and projects, meetings regarding health and wellness events and strategic initiatives, client-directed outreach, and committees.
- May assist with the collection of biometric data such as height, weight, and demographic data, consent forms, etc. as related to measurement of progress towards member goals
- Works with cafeteria or food service vendor to evaluate nutrition offerings and make suggestions.
- May require other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Documentation of state license/registration (e.g. copy of actual license, verification of license, or email including license number)
- Bachelor's degree in a health-related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Certified by a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) approved program or ability to complete an approved certification within the first few months of hire (Well Coaches preferred)
- Lifestyle Medicine Certification (preferred)
- Additional certifications in wellness/fitness specialties are desirable (preferred)
- Masters in a health-related field or equivalent experience (preferred)
Experience:
- Three years of experience as a registered dietitian in a clinical setting
- Minimum 3 years' experience working as a wellness coach (preferred)
- Minimum 1 year experience working in a healthcare setting (preferred)
- Experience in public speaking and presentations.
- Experience in health promotion or work site wellness preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of Internet navigation, spreadsheets, power point and diet analysis software.
- Knowledge and respect of confidentiality and HIPAA laws.
- Strong written and oral communication skills required to effectively communicate with a broad range of individuals.
- Able to work independently.
- Ability to counsel/teach in one on one or small group settings.
- Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records (EPIC preferred).
