Basic Job Purpose/Function
Registered Dietitian - Public Health - Goldendale and White Salmon - Casual, 8 hours per week, Set Rate $65.00/Hr, First Review March 29, 2024. Open until Filled.
This position will support the Women, Infants, and Children Nutrition Program. As a Dietitian/Nutritionist, you will be responsible for providing direct high-risk nutrition counseling, education, care plans, and referrals to WIC participants. This position would also provide referrals to the community as necessary. The Dietitian/Nutritionist will serve as a consultant to the WIC and MSS Health Department staff. All services are provided using participant-centered communication skills in a culturally competent manner.
Essential Job Duties
Essential Job Duties:
- Provide direct high-risk nutrition counseling, education, care plans, and referrals to WIC participants.
- Use dietary, biochemical, medical and anthropometric data to assess medical nutrition needs; and document services in electronic records system.
- Provide nutrition/diet counseling and care plans based upon assessment of dietary, medical and lifestyle factors.
- Review, assess, and process incoming WIC Medical Documents to ensure clients receive appropriate medical formula and special nutrition supplements; communicate with healthcare providers as needed.
- Promote breastfeeding and provide breastfeeding information at prenatal appointments; provide individualized breastfeeding information and support to breastfeeding mothers.
- Provide referrals to the community as appropriate; serve as content expert for nutrition.
- Following State WIC/MSS protocols, assess clients who are nutritionally at high risk, and develop appropriate care plan using WIC database system.
- Provide technical nutrition information and approve/create client education materials.
- Refer clients to physicians and other care providers, as needed.
- Document client information and services received in WIC database system.
- Provide technical nutrition support, instruction, and in-service training for staff.
- Assist with organization and planning of the WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program.
- Engage and network with community partners.
- Participate in agency meetings and trainings, and WIC trainings, as required.

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications
Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree, in Nutrition or related field.
- Strong organization and time management required, with ability to multitask
- Work independently, and as a team member.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook; WIC database.
- Must have strong and effective communication skills (oral and written).
- Working knowledge of standard office procedures and technologies (phone, computer, printer, photocopier, scanner, fax machine) is needed.
- Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with people from varied cultural, socioeconomic, educational and experiential backgrounds.
- Strong skills in pediatric nutrition and public health background.
- Experience working with culturally and individually diverse groups.
- Knowledge and understanding of the origins and results of the disparities experienced by individuals and families related to racism and social-economic injustices.
- Bilingual English/Spanish Language.
Licenses, Certificates and Other Requirements
- Registered Dietitian License from the Washington State Department of Health
- Valid state driver's license in state of residence and auto liability insurance if personal vehicle is used for work-related travel
- Specific positions may require specialized training or certification
