Job Purpose

The primary duty of a Regional Truss Manager (RTM) is to interact regularly with Truss Plant Managers, Assistant Managers, and other Regional Managers serving as a leader, coach, mentor, and conduit of information ensuring the continuity of day-to-day operations for multiple locations within the organization. The RTM is responsible for managing, directing, and implementing operational strategies and objectives to help ensure plant goals are achieved. In addition, the RTM is responsible for helping to lead and grow the next level of leaders for PARR.

The RTM is also responsible for ensuring that PARR's Mission/Vision/Values remain a priority and focus of all daily plant operations. This position will be overseeing our Oregon Truss locations. Regional Truss Managers work at a location within their region, but will travel between various locations driving operations.

Base salary starts at $114k depending on experience and total compensation ranges up to $240k.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Regional Truss Manager regularly interacts with the Plant Managers and Assistant Managers in their region. These interactions are done with a combination of scheduled visits, phone calls, and virtual meetings.

These interactions serve as opportunities to ensure that all aspects of the plant operations are up to PARR standards and expectations. These would include, but are not limited to:

Safety

  • Creates a safe, positive, and comfortable work environment for all employees
  • Ensures that all safety procedures and policies are being followed
  • Ensures that all equipment is maintained to PARR standards, and repairs are done in a timely manner
  • Ensuring facilities are well maintained, visually appealing, and being safely operated
  • Works with Plant Manager to ensure all fleet reports are completed per company policy

Communication

  • Lives the FACE values
  • Ensures professional relationships are established and maintained with internal and external customers
  • Encourages a team environment
  • Remains calm, professional and confident under pressure
  • Works with Plant Managers to set expectations and goals for employees and ensures they are being held accountable
  • Ensures customer complaints and concerns are promptly and adequately addressed
  • Effectively communicates with employees of all levels in their environment
  • Seeks out, listens and responds to input from employees and customers so as to ensure continuous improvement
  • Is consistently engaged and vocal during Manager meetings
  • Communicates effectively with various sized groups, high stakes customer interactions and peer group meetings

People Development

  • Utilizes and supports the Parr University and training ecosystem
  • Ensures employee evaluations are completed on time and remain current

  • Ensures that employee issues are dealt with clearly, directly and in a timely manner
  • Assists with creating, implementing, and the follow through of Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) when necessary
  • Works to develop new training that is specific to Truss Manufacturing to develop new employees, creating a better chance of becoming successful on the manufacturing side
  • Works closely with the Design Manager to develop design best practices on the Truss Manufacturing side

Leadership

  • Maintains a positive attitude, image, and delivery of "Discover the Difference" to peers, subordinates, customers, industry associates, and the general public
  • Always ensures PARR's brand standards are being maintained
  • Working with the VP of Manufacturing, Plant Managers, Regional and Division Sales Mangers and the Market Truss sales to maintain a regional "big picture" mindset
  • Works with VP of Manufacturing and other leaders in the Company to continually monitor, evaluate, and when appropriate, encourage change in policy and procedures as it relates to plant operations
  • Builds bridges and works well with all departments to help solve problems
  • Demonstrates confidence and carries self as a leader of the organization
  • Is consistently visible to all levels of the company: speaks up, and is a voice towards problem solving
  • Assists with identifying and responding the need for staffing changes at yards, and ensuring that proper capacity is maintained in relation to sales volume
  • Ensures facilities and fleet are maintained to PARR standards

Results

  • Works with Plant Manager to achieve budgeted bottom line, consistently and demonstrably strives for financial improvement
  • Coaches and delegates financial reporting, striving to build business acumen with team

  • Ensures that company goals, plans and initiatives are followed and met
  • Uses Budget to Actual as a tool in the decision-making process and shares that with team leaders, to create improvement plans

  • Works closely with Regional and Division Sales Managers, Market Truss Sales to increase both Truss and Lumber sales by bundling the product lines together

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • 3 years of experience in Truss Plant management preferred
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to operate personal computer, smartphone, scanner, and any other equipment necessary for the job
  • Knowledge and proficient with management principles, practices, and protocols
  • Understands the effects of lumber industry market conditions, and is able to work with Managers to navigate thru challenges resulting from these conditions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Class C driver's license

  • Ability to work cordially, professionally, diplomatically and with a high level of customer service in a dynamic environment. Is approachable and humble.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in dealing with sensitive business matters with internal and external customers of all types. Must maintain confidentiality and accuracy of all information related to company finances and records, particularly, cost of goods purchased and sold.
  • Ability and willingness to identify processes, tools and/or procedures that may be improved upon in an effort to improve the workplace and outcomes for our customers.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and employees at a high skill level and speak effectively in front of groups. Communication can include, but is not limited to: in-person (verbal and non-verbal), written, e-mail, telephone, and public speaking to medium size groups.

Working Conditions

The working conditions for this position are a combination of inside/office, outside/yard, travelling to other locations, with some overnight travel possible. Must have the ability to work independently, as well as within a team environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work indoors in a normal office environment for an entire day
  • Must be able to grasp, talk, hear, and operate a computer and keyboard
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds and carry objects 50 feet
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle when necessary
  • Both local and overnight travel may be required
