SAIA is Hiring a Regional Safety Manager!
Saia is searching for an Indianapolis based Regional Safety Manager. Reporting to the Director of Safety, the Regional Safety Manager provides leadership and expertise to the operations within an assigned region. This role collaborates closely operational leaders to serve and support execution of programs and plans that reinforce a strong safety culture. Responsible for identifying, evaluating, and managing safety exposures that represent unacceptable loss to the corporation resulting from personal injury, vehicle incidents, property damage and regulatory penalties. This position will serve as the primary contact for Safety related issues in the assigned region and will ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal Safety & Health and DOT laws, regulations, permits, as well as company mandated policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the accident reporting and investigation for the region.
- Conduct training and education classes for drivers and other terminal employees.
- Implement corrective action to minimize causes of loss
- Ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal Safety & Health and DOT,OSHA, and RCRA laws, regulations, permits, and company mandated policies and procedures
- Facilitate and deliver corporate-initiated training programs to terminals on accident investigations and behavioral based safety techniques
ferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety with a minimum 5 years Industrial/Occupational Safety & Health and DOT experience
- Claims/OSD Experience
- Ability to communicate with all levels from laborer through senior management to develop program support
- In depth working knowledge of :DOT, OSHA and RCRA regulations
- CDL license helpful
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Outlook, WORD, EXCEL, and PowerPoint
- Ability to travel up to 40% travel required.
