Regional Safety Manager
WinField United is the agricultural products wholesale distributor and agricultural research and development division of Land O'Lakes, Inc. and includes multiple facilities across the country. The WinField division consists of agronomy service centers, Forage Genetics research and seed manufacturing facilities, and research and technology-based Answer Plot teams.
Location: This role is remote (virtual) and can work from anywhere in the United States.
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a hands-on solution provider to be part of a team of EHS professionals who develop and directs company-wide EHS policies with respect to protecting the health, safety, and the environment of WinField United employees and facilities. This position establishes and implements systems and processes that ensure regulatory compliance and reduce risk in multiple operating units and locations. This person will:
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance - explain and evaluate regulatory requirements (EPA, OSHA, DOT, DHS) as they apply to individual Division facilities. Manage auditing program against regulatory requirements. Manage corrective action plans to close compliance gaps. Provide technical support on regulatory requirements.
- Reduce EHS Risk - Identify and prioritize environment and safety risks. Support capital process to engineer out risks when possible. Assist facilities to develop standard operating procedures for risks that cannot be engineered out.
- Provide Hands-On Site Assistance - Provide core EHS competencies at locations which do not have dedicated EHS personnel by developing forms, checklists, and other tools for use by the location. Assist and develop EHS Coordinators at locations which do have dedicated EHS personnel.
- Standardize EHS approach - Responsible for applying EHS Standards as they relate to the Division. Identify processes to ensure EHS best practices are formalized and standardized across the Division as appropriate.
- Lead - Assists location safety staff and work directly with Operations/Corp EHS/HR and other business partners to lead safety/risk reduction initiatives. This position requires strong collaboration with all of level of management and employees.
Experience - Education Required:
- Bachelor's degree in safety, engineering or equivalent technical field
- Minimum of 5 years' experience developing and implementing EHS programs and managing multiple facility technical programs
- Experience in the agricultural chemical industry is highly preferred
- Seeking strong technical Safety background.
- History of producing results with progressive responsibility managing programs and people.
Preferred Experience and Knowledge:
- Master's degree is preferred
- Professional certifications preferred include certified safety professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Professional Engineer
Travel: Up to 50%
The target salary for this position is dependent upon experience and is approximately $115,000-$170,000.
