Job Title: Regional Safety and LP Manager – Supply Chain
Reports to:  Sr. Director of Asset Protection
Department: Loss Prevention
Exempt Status: Exempt
Position Overview:


The Regional Safety and LP Manager – Supply Chain is responsible for working cross-functionally throughout the Supply Chain division to develop and execute Safety and Loss Prevention programs and procedures to minimize company’s exposure to losses incurred through accidents, property loss, non-compliance with legal requirements, theft, etc.

 

In partnership with Human Resources, Supply Chain Operations and company’s Safety and Risk Manager develop Safety awareness and education programs for all Distribution Center departments. Working with Supply Chain management, Third Party Administrator, insurance providers, and Medical Management providers to prepare reports related to accident frequency, causation and claims history and provide analysis of ongoing business metrics to identify and resolve issues that contribute to losses.

Provide leadership for maintaining compliance with all required testing, certifications and operational readiness for all property and life safety systems. Direct all Loss Prevention programs focused on reducing losses due to internal or external theft, focusing on conducting investigations as necessary and executing a Loss Prevention awareness program.

The Regional Safety and LP Manager – Supply Chain is responsible for the direct management of all Safety and Loss Prevention programs and the supervision of, (3 – 4), Distribution Center Safety and LP Managers District Loss Prevention Managers. In addition, this position is responsible for the indirect supervision of all 3 party service providers.

 

The Regional Safety and LP Manager – Supply Chain will set the standards for performance to include goal setting, quality of performance, as well as career development through mentoring and motivating individuals to elevated level of performance. Achieved through frequent communication, follow-up to goals, and immediately addressing situations as they arise.

Primary Responsibilities:

 

·         Responsible for managing the overall Safety and Loss Prevention programs in all Supply Chain buildings and operations.

·         Direct supervision of 3 – 4 Distribution Center Safety and LP Managers.  Indirect supervision responsibilities for Ollie’s LP Associates and 3 party guard services.

·         Ensures the development of reporting that highlights overall safety performance across the DC network against established internal and industry standard KPI’s.  In conjunction with DC Operations Management, leads the development of action plans, initiatives, and programs where KPI’s are not meeting established goals.

·         Establishes realistic goals and expectations for improvement in safety metrics by establishing goals and the actions needed to improve safety conditions. 

·         Establishes and maintains DC network safety programs through working with Human Resources and Operations Management to identify needed incentives, communication plans, awareness programs, training needs, and signage needs.

·         Develops and refines safety policies procedures to achieve industry standard best practices.

·         Ensures proper controls and programs are in place through administering safety audits and establishment of safety teams.

·         Analyzes accident and injury reports for trends to determine root causes and recommended action plans.

·         Oversees new hire safety training programs and adapts to changing needs and regulations.

·         Provide direction on the monitoring, reviewing, and enforcing safety, health, and environmental regulations. Ensures distribution center associates adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, and notifies appropriate personnel when center is not in compliance or potentially is not in compliance.

·         Coordinates monitors and maintains inspection records of all Loss Prevention related equipment. Ensures fire and intrusion equipment is operable. Ensures fire hazards are eliminated and conducts periodic drills and inspections to maintain fire and emergency readiness.

·         Supervise and monitor the training and performance of Loss Prevention associates and 3 party guards.  Review and control schedules, assignments for all DC LP associates and guards. and monitors the completion of assigned tasks.

·         Implements and monitors all Loss Prevention policies and procedures focused on access control, detection of theft and other criminal activity.

·         Provide direction, oversight of all investigations, and follow up; implement initiative-taking measures to combat theft and shrink through theft and shrink awareness programs.

·         Provide leadership for all buildings safety committee meetings.

·         Conduct and ensure the timely completion of routine Loss Prevention and Shortage Control audits to identify existing or potential exposure and monitor compliance to policy and procedure.

·         Develop and provide oversight on safety and Loss Prevention training requirements and programs.

·         Initiates and completes other duties assigned per Supply Chain senior management.

·         Responsible for administering and enforcing the policies and standards of the Loss Prevention Department.

·         Demonstrate the ability to mentor and analyze people and situations from all aspects by establishing, clear direction, supervision, and follow-up.

·         Leadership in the development and implementation of shortage plans. This includes, working with all areas to develop a shortage plan that is realistic, actionable, practical, and measurable.

·         Demonstrate both excellent and verbal communication skills.

·         Responsible for the communication and effectiveness of shortage awareness in the Distribution Centers.

·         Possess a working knowledge of the physical security aspects of the job including alarms, EAS, CCTV, and lock and key.

·         Assist DC management and finance in accurate execution of Annual Inventory and periodic Cycle Counts.

·         Complete any additional responsibilities and/or duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

·         Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

·         Minimum of 5+ years of experience in leading safety management programs in large scale distribution operations (preferably multi-facility responsibility) with additional responsibilities for managing security and Loss Prevention programs in a distribution center(s).

·         Ability to effectively manage in a professional work environment.

·         Experience in managing teams and programs remotely. Effectively leverages multiple channels to communicate and stay connected.

·         Proven ability to always exercise sound judgment.

·         Efficient planning, prioritization, and implementation of detailed instructions.

·         Ability to learn and communicate new information and processes to all associates within company standards.

·         Outstanding interpersonal and listening skills.

·         Ability to lead a team effectively.

·         Prior experience supervising LP Managers

·         WZ/Reid interviewing certification preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

·         Some overnight travel is required.

·         Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel on a frequent basis.

·         Physical ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer.

·         Ability to lift 50 lbs.

·         Must have the ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid state issued license.

·         Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
