Purpose and Essential Duties
The Regional Operations Manager (ROM) is responsible for the oversight of multiple construction projects and directs the daily operations of each project. Provide leadership and oversight for the day-to-day full project cycle which includes documentation, field operations for all Construction, Safety, QA/QC, and P&L activities associated with assigned projects. The ROM also helps with strategic planning for company growth. As a trusted advisor to the Unit's leadership team and other functions, provides essential operational support by acting as a sounding board for business issues, thereby adding value to leadership and operational discussions.
Specific responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for Governance, Supervision & Operational Risk Management.
  • Responsible for overall operational risk for the GTR Region - coach Field Operations team to take appropriate action to close gaps identified.
  • Manage the AOP process for the unit, which includes defining the strategy, objectives, detailed plans, and KPIs as well as coordinating with different functions in the unit.
  • Participate in project planning, budget, and contractor selection.
  • Reviews paperwork and permits before submission.
  • Develop professional relationships with our Customers.
  • Set and reinforce consistent standards and ensure effective client communications.
  • Serve as a change agent to positively impact the operational effectiveness and Client Experience.
  • Coordinate, monitor, manage, and facilitate the interaction and support of all corporate groups such as BIM, Estimating, Engineering, Safety, Commissioning, and Accounting.
  • Lead the execution of various special projects/ task forces/ business improvement initiatives, as requested by Senior Management.
  • Ensure deliverance against an annual commercial construction project budget in excess of $20 million.
  • Manage and facilitate periodic training to ensure compliance and other training initiatives and requirements, including ensuring area personnel is current on required training (e.g., FAA, FCC, EME, OSHA 10, CPR, first aid, tower rescue).
  • Change management leader - accept and successfully executes change while supporting employees through proactive communication, issue resolution, and effective decision-making.
  • Assess and provide feedback to manage employee and external vendor service delivery across virtual teams and multiple global geographies to improve their performance.
  • Demonstrate leadership of the performance assessment program and ensure employees receive targeted coaching and mentoring to improve their performance, while also facilitating their participation in the discussion.
  • Engage in active talent management strategies within the region to identify the strengths of potential resources/talent to meet business objectives.
  • Manage the staffing process (recruiting to offer of employment).
  • Assist in developing and implementing corporate policies and procedures that achieve Corporate goals and support the Company's mission statement.
  • Client Maintenance.

  • Financial issues and reporting processes.
  • Subcontractor performance issues.
  • Manpower issues and analysis.
  • Constructability and technical issues.

This position is Full-Time, Exempt, and reports to the Vice President.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Trade school or a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Management, or Finance.
  • 10+ years of experience with responsibility for the total execution of large projects.
  • Advanced experience and knowledge of Construction estimating, means and methods, accounting, project administration, and a thorough understanding of industry practices.
  • Experience in handling change orders.
  • Experience in the management of Superintendents, Foreman, and Project Support staff.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Strong subject matter knowledge on the full spectrum of IT building blocks including packaged software applications, software applications development, network, data centers, end user computing, telephony, mobility solutions, systems integration, reporting tools.
  • OSHA 30-hour safety training.
  • Technical Background and working knowledge of electrical and mechanical controls.
  • Scorecard and Dashboard Management.
  • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Master's in Business Administration (MBA)
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Trade School or Apprenticeship
  • Leadership Coursework

Travel Requirements
  • Frequent travel to Company or client locations. Approximately 75 - 90% of time will be spent traveling.
  • Based out of one of the Bernhard Office locations.
