The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates, and maintains eight major toll facilities comprised of four bridges, two tunnels, and two turnpikes, across the State of Maryland. Nature of Work: The Regional Facilities Compliance Officer provides technical guidance and support on various facility maintenance and service contracts across the agency related to HVAC, fire alarm and suppression systems, elevator and plumbing equipment. The employee is also responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation of the Preventative Maintenance Program, which includes overseeing the implementation of condition assessments for all facility systems, structures, and equipment.
Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Develop, review, and approve scopes of work, specifications, change orders, and invoices of maintenance contracts;
  • Assist in the day-to-day operation of the Preventative Maintenance and Warranty Program for all maintenance and service contracts and ensure compliance by the contractor;
  • Attend facility maintenance contract kick-off meetings and partnering meetings in the absence of management;
  • Inspect all work performed by the contractor under the maintenance contracts to ensure quality assurance and compliance with the contract documents;
  • Provide recommendations for future funding priorities and aid in the budgetary needs for service, repair, and replacement of all facilities systems, structures, and equipment in each respective facility;
  • Respond to emergency facility situations, as needed; and
  • Provide monthly reports to management and the facilities regarding the progress of maintenance contracts and assigned tasks.
Employees in this position will report directly to the Senior Facilities Preservation Manager. The current vacancy exists in Baltimore, Maryland at the Francis Scott Key Bridge. The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies at other facilities throughout the Maryland Transportation Authority. MINIMUM QUALIFICAITONS

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in professional engineering. **One year of this experience must include Preventative Maintenance of Building Systems or Building Maintenance Program Management.

  1. Additional work experience in professional engineering, or in technical engineering at the journey level or above, may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.
  2. Possession of a Master's Degree in Engineering may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
  3. Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the State of Maryland, or in a state with comparable requirements, are considered to have met the education requirements.
  1. Employees may be required to possess an Engineer-In-Training License from the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.
  2. Employees may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. Applicants must list the license number and date of expiration on the application.
