Job description

Primarily responsible for overseeing the operations of multiple Tijuana Flats units and 4 plus Area Supervisors.Will teach, motivate, and build relationships with the Area Supervisors, and management teams, obtain the highest level of quality operations through the development of people, and drive year on year sales growth and increase profitability. The general purpose of this position is the development of people and succession planning, recruiting & MIT development, maintaining the standards of Tijuana Flats, and driving sales increase and profitability in all their locations.
People Development and Succession Planning:

  • Builds and maintains professional relationships with all area supervisors based on honesty and integrity.
  • Acts as a mentor and work to develop each area supervisor into future leaders. Monitor and work closely with all your managers to recognize their strengths and development needs.
  • Designs and implements strategies/plans for the development of the area supervisors that is constantly being used and updated to provide maximum improvement/development.
  • Conducts formal annual reviews all your area supervisors to establish standards of performance and progress.
  • Must be hands on in the field every day; during each restaurant visit spend time with Area Supervisors and GMs to gather feedback that will keep Tijuana Flats the preferred employer.
  • Supervises, directs, mentors and assists all Area Supervisors and managers.
  • Constantly works with and provides guidance to the Area Supervisors on their succession planning.
  • Is proactive with the planning process.
  • Communicates with area supervisors and knows their professional goals.
  • Ensures that succession plans are done, at a minimum, on a monthly basis.

Recruiting and MIT Development:
  • Works closely with the HR Department & area supervisors to recruit, interview, select, and retain high quality managers.
  • Maintains communication with area supervisors on the development of new MIT during the training process; ensures that orientations, period reviews and finals reviews are being completed on time by the area supervisors.
  • Provides feedback to Training and HR department on progress and quality of MITs.
  • Ensures area supervisors are communicating with the MIT on placement prior to completion of training.
  • Constantly reviews all MIT materials to ensure that up to date operational tools are included.
  • Works with HR and Training departments to create, develop and facilitate the MIT Conference, keep it innovative.

Standards of Tijuana Flats
  • Ensures that area supervisors are conducting inspections on a quarterly basis for all restaurants.
  • Leads through Tijuana Flats Core Values and unique culture.
  • Ensures that the highest possible standards of restaurant cleanliness and safety and security conditions for our guests and employees is being maintained at each location.
  • Monitors all operational tools to ensure proactive growth: Guest comments, SMG scores and feedback, store inspection reports, and all other operational tools.
  • Monitors and supervises compliance of all company policies and procedures.
  • Ensures guest service standards are being maintained.
  • Works with all departments on support needed with operations.

Sales Growth and Profitability:
  • Conducts business reviews with each area supervisor on a monthly basis and hold them accountable for turnover, financial results, quality of Operations and people development.
  • Drives year-on-year sales growth.
  • Increases profitability.
  • Reviews budgets on a monthly basis and ensures budget and profit responsibility.
  • Administers a final P&L review with all your GMs.
  • Stands accountable for profit and loss of all restaurants. Minimize controllable expenses and maximize sales and profit.

New Store Growth:
  • Assists in new unit growth.
  • Works with HR and Area Supervisors to ensure that quality people are trained and developed to open new locations.
  • Works with training team to ensure that all operational tools are in place for new store opening.
  • Is involved with new products/testing, marketing, construction, and HR to stay current with all company projects.

  • Travel: Will spend majority of time in the field and traveling to respective stores, in some cases may require nights and weekends

Work Environment:
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate when in office environment; site work will require exposure to varying weather conditions and increase exposure to noise.
