Cedarhurst, a regional healthcare provider and true friend of older adults, seeks a service-minded, career-oriented individual to join our team as a full-timeRegional Director of Nursing.

As the Regional Director of Nursing, you will have to opportunity to connect with, and positively impact the lives of, our residents daily! You will be reporting directly to the Vice President of Organizational Development, you will be responsible for assessing and monitoring of Community person-directed care and nursing practices and compliance in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations. You will assist with the development and implementation of Nursing policies, procedures, and quality initiatives while supporting each Community and Regional Resident Care & Compliance Teams in optimizing each resident’s well-being and overall experience. This also includes the assessment and implementation of clinical practices within each Community, including during the acquisition and opening of new communities. You will also be responsible for the education and training of person-directed care and nursing practices and assist in the development, maintenance, and evaluation of education and training curricula, staff competencies, mentorship programs, nursing policies and procedures, and quality initiatives. You will seek to increase awareness of Cedarhurst Senior Living and our mission to create communities where each person feels loved, valued, supported, and able to live life to the fullest.

As a Regional Director of Nursing, you will impact the lives of our residents by

  • Leads the clinical survey preparedness process of existing Communities and the auditing and implementation of organizational practices during the acquisition and opening of new communities
  • Trains, coaches, and mentors Community resident care and nursing leadership and their teams on person-directed care practices, including the use of an electronic health records system
  • Performs clinical case analysis for complex resident challenges as needed
  • Educates, trains and mentors Community resident care and nursing leadership and their teams on person-directed care practices, including the use of an electronic health records system
  • Assists in the development, maintenance, and evaluation of curricula and support materials for new hire orientation and ongoing face-to-face and computerized training programs
  • Contributes to the design, implementation, and evaluation of professional advancement programs, processes, and tools to improve Community staff retention, onboarding and mentoring of new employees, and leadership development
  • Provides support in the design and implementation of professional advancement programs, processes, and tools to improve Community staff retention, onboarding and mentoring of new employees, and leadership development
  • Contributes to the design, implementation, and evaluation of professional advancement programs, processes, and tools to improve Community NOI, staff retention, onboarding and mentoring of new employees, and leadership development
  • Acts as an interim Director of Nursing within communities as needed
  • Provides support for organization-wide clinical initiatives such as the electronic health records system
  • Collaborates with department team members to set organization-wide quality improvement goals and initiatives on an ongoing basis and revises as needed
  • Assists in the development and monitoring of person-directed resident care and nursing policies, procedures, and resources that are in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations
  • Attends and participates in meetings such as Resident Care & Compliance Teams and transition planning meetings for upcoming acquisitions and new communities, as well as all corporate sponsored meetings and training sessions
  • Implements and monitors short & long-term resident care and nursing goals within the Communities
  • Demonstrates competence in the area of culture change and regulatory compliance, ensuring that each Community stays in regulatory compliance with all regulatory agencies
  • Provides leadership in such a manner that represents key servant leadership principles, including effective listening, empathy, awareness, and persuasiveness
  • Ensures that company standards and policies are well-maintained
  • Aligns his/herself with owners’ vision for service quality and value creation
  • Ability to travel overnight as needed with occasional excessive travel
  • Other duties as assigned

To become a Regional Director of Nursing, you will need –

  • Degree in Nursing (LPN or RN accepted) with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a nurse, required – experience within senior and memory care is preferred
  • Ability to commute or relocate within the Indianapolis area.
  • Applicable State licensure(s), including a current RCAL or LNHA
  • Must possess strong knowledge of laws and restrictions regarding Assisted Living and Memory Care, as well as a solid understanding of opportunities and limits of other levels of care within senior living
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills are required along with the heart and passion to work with older adults while providing the best care possible & demonstrate respect for the principles of resident rights, including privacy and confidentiality
  • Must be able to collaborate across all functional areas of the business constructively and efficiently, within a fast paced, intensive, senior living company, while demonstrating objective integrity with great leadership.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times with the ability to effectively perform conflict intervention and resolution.
  • Ability to work well with others and take direction from management, as well as take initiative – willing to go above and beyond to ensure the needs of the organization are met in accordance with the Company’s core values
  • Passion to achieve results through self-motivation, initiative and proactive orientation with a sense of professional curiosity, desire to learn new things and to find / recommend solutions to problems
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure, meet deadlines and communicate in a clear, accurate, efficient and professional manner in written and verbal communications
  • Must exhibit and promote a high level of integrity, customer service, hospitality, curiosity and friendliness towards all residents, visitors, employees and the overall organization
