Project Equity Illinois – Cannabis Operations

Project Equity Illinois, in partnership with Cookies®, is proud to announce the opening of three Cookies® Cannabis Dispensaries in Bloomington, Peoria Heights, and Pontoon Beach Illinois. We’re looking for a Regional Director of Human Resources with a strong record of success managing all HR functions in a multi-location retail sales environment.

Position Title: Regional DirectorHuman Resources

Classification: Exempt

Status: Full-time / travel to retail sites on a regular basis / occasional remote

Reports to: PEI Executive Leadership

Summary/Objective: Responsible for direct oversight and tactical deployment of all Human Resources (HR) initiatives supporting the business operations, including recruitment, hiring, employee relations, cultural initiatives, administration of pay, benefits, and leave, and company policies and practices compliance.

Essential Functions:

· Recruit, interview, and hire qualified candidates that support the culture of the company and brand partner.

· Conduct new hire orientation process; ensure all compliance and brand training requirements are met on an ongoing basis.

· Manage/oversee employee performance evaluation process at 90 days and annually.

· Provide support and guidance to store managers when sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances (reasonable accommodations, confidential employee issues)

· Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues including allegations of wrongdoing, workplace harassment, etc. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.

· Handle all disciplinary issues; prepare and maintain corrective action notices/documentation.

· Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and routinely review policies and practices to ensure compliance.

· Responsible for timely and accurate HRIS database management and paper filing systems to ensure integrity of data.

· Accurately performs bi-weekly payroll process, to include tip reporting/payment.

· Monitors all payroll expenses, overtime/meal breaks, etc. and submits exception reports to store managers.

· Manage all “@humanresources emails”; respond in a professional and timely manner.

· Conducts confidential employee satisfaction surveys on a quarterly basis; provides feedback to management and makes continuous process improvements as needed.

· Manage/support employee recognition initiatives (EOM, etc.)

· Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Consults with designated legal counsel as necessary.

· Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to store management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).

· Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

· Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

· Minimum of three years’ experience of HR management in a retail, customer-facing environment

· Minimum two years of experience performing full-cycle payroll; highly proficient in HRIS database.

· Must meet IDFPR Agent Badging Requirements

· Highly proficient in Excel, Word, MS Office

· Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction

· Strong work ethic; ability to adapt to adjusting workload and priority levels.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
