Job description

The Plaza Assisted Living communities are starting this new year with an exciting new position, the Regional Activity Director. This position will support all 6 Assisted Living communities on Oahu and will have a pivotal role in implementing a new Plaza care program this year.
The Regional Activity Director will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing recreational activity programming to meet the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual needs for residents at their primary community. The Regional Activity Director will support all Activities Directors/Administrators through collaboration and training.
The following are essential functions of the Regional Activity Director job:

  • Support and advise Administrator by offering feedback of Activities Program.
  • Support and advise Activity Director by offering feedback, education, training on Activities program.
  • Manage Sagely or other adopted activity related software.
  • Implement "4 Pillars" program.
  • Facilitate Best Friends Master Trainer program including Master Trainer meetings.
  • Track KPI data on all communities and present it to Administrator and Regional Director with recommendations to strength program.
  • Support Administrator when no Activity Director.

The following are essential functions of the community Activity Director job:
  • Participates in the implementation of individual resident service plans and coordinates daily activities for all residents in accordance with The Plaza's Activity Program Policy.
  • Provides care and services in a manner that promotes resident rights and is respectful of resident choices.
  • Develops community programs and activities that meets the physical, spiritual and behavioral needs of all residents.
  • Develops professional monthly activity calendars in each community to maximize resident participation.
  • Facilitates community Resident Councils within established guidelines; encourages resident participation in the planning of community activities and functions.
  • Organizes and coordinates seasonal decorations as appropriate in coordination with other departments throughout the year.
  • Maintains effective networking relationships with outside community resources to enhance program offerings.
  • Coordinates and plans community events and recreational excursions for resident outings, appointments and community events, as appropriate.
  • Ensures the activities van is maintained in good condition as specified in vehicle warranty manual and The Plaza's Vehicle Maintenance Policy.
  • Adheres to all Department of Transportation (FMCSA) and The Plaza Transportation Policies and regulations.
  • Operates within established departmental budget through the established purchasing practices and maintains accurate inventory of all departmental supplies.
  • Monitors effectiveness of current program offerings and modifies programs as necessary to increase resident participation.
  • Fills in as a resident escort as needed in conjunction with the performance of activities.
  • Discusses Activity Department concerns or recommendation with Administrator.
  • Works collaboratively with other departments, attends community meetings, trainings and in-services as assigned.
  • Responds quickly to all emergencies; assist in fire drills and controls an evacuation during and actual fire or disasters.
  • Adheres to all employment requirements established in the Team Member Handbook, the Operating Policies and the Procedural Manuals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Administrator.

Supervisory Responsibilities (if working at a community)
  • Schedules Activities Department staff and arrange for appropriate staff to meet the business need demand (i.e. Plaza Plus services).
  • Supervises activities staff and evaluates performance on an ongoing basis.
  • Creates monthly in-service meetings and ongoing departmental training.
  • Provides relief on the floor as needed .

Required
  • Three (3) year of previous management experience, or one (1) year of previous experience in a similar capacity in assisted living.
  • Must have a valid State of Hawaii Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record per company, insurance, and state policies and regulations.
  • Driving to communities
  • Current Tuberculosis Clearance, according to the State of Hawaii Department of Health.
  • CPR and First Aid Certified.

Preferred
  • Associates in Social Work or Certified Activities Professional.

Physical Requirements
Frequent standing and walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and occasional lifting; in addition, must be free of communicable disease and meet community policies and procedures regarding necessary physical health
