Job Title: Refrigeration Operating Engineer 1 (apprentice)

INDUSTRY: Food processing environment regulated by state and federal government agencies.

SUMMARY: Under close supervision, operate, repair, and maintain refrigeration systems to freeze or chill product and maintain temperatures in cold and chill rooms per Company procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other comparable duties may be assigned.

Monitor and record functions of refrigeration system and adjust valves or controls to obtain optimal performance

* of the system per Company procedures.

Evaluate product discharged from freeze tunnels and adjust controls to meet Company standards for product

* temperature.

* Maintain and repair refrigeration equipment.

* Operate, maintain and repair boilers, air compressors and auxiliary equipment as required.

Communicate with designated plant personnel to facilitate production scheduling and cleaning and maintenance

* of freezing and refrigeration equipment.

* Maintain accurate records as required.

* Perform maintenance and repair of general plant equipment as required.

* Maintain safe and sanitary work area.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

No supervisory responsibilities. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees and planning, assigning and directing work.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED. Willingness to take ammonia refrigeration courses.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents in English. Ability to legibly write routine reports and correspondence in English.

Ability to communicate effectively in one on one situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent. Ability to read, interpret, and record temperature and pressure gauges.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to plan, organize and anticipate work activities.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

PNW Veg. Co., LLC dba Norpac Lift Truck Certification. First Aid training recommended. Respirator training.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to work independently. Ability to work overtime and weekends. Ability to rotate or work any shift. Ability to practice and emphasize safety to co-workers in performance of all job functions. Ability to learn complex refrigeration systems.

Mechanical aptitude. Ability to provide leadership and training to refrigeration/tunnel attendants. Computer Skills

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $24.03 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
