Position Summary:
Responsible for performing a variety of analytical procedures related to quality control testing, process support, project engineering and customer issues related to petroleum products.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to the following):
- Perform a wide variety of routine analytical tests such as distillations, vapor pressure, pour point, flash point, etc. on petroleum products, refinery related chemicals, and wastewater.
- Perform statistical quality control (SQC) testing and utilize statistical principles to monitor the precision and accuracy of laboratory measurement systems.
- Perform quality control / quality assurance testing of refinery “Finished Products”, process stream samples, customer submitted samples, and incoming products.
- Perform duties related to the everyday operation of the Laboratory, as well as any duties assigned by the Chief Chemist or Laboratory Manager.
- Ensure correctness of Laboratory generated data.
- Assist refinery operations and technical services personnel with investigative situations.
- Handle hazardous waste involved in sampling and testing as directed by the Chief Chemist and Laboratory Manager.
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain Lab instrumentation.
- Provide assistance and training to Laboratory Technicians.
- Inventory and place order requests for supplies and consumables.
- Perform safety inspections.
Job Qualifications (refers to job, not incumbent):
Education: High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related science field is preferred.
Experience: 1-2 years’ experience working in a similar capacity at a chemical processing, refining, or laboratory testing facility.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations: Employee must have valid driver’s license if operating a company vehicle or their own vehicle for work purposes.
