POSITION TITLE: Recruitment Assistant – Orchard Operations
REPORTS TO: Recruitment Specialist – Orchard Operations
FLSA: Non-Exempt/Hourly
PURPOSE OF THE POSTION: The Recruiting Assistant – Orchard Operations provides direct support to the Recruitment Specialist in serving as a point of contact for recruitment and H-2A matters. With a primary focus on daily recruitment efforts, this position also directly supports our H-2A Temporary Agricultural Workers program, ensuring compliance with U.S. Department of Labor rules and regulations associated with the program by adhering to standard procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential functions listed below are not intended to reflect all duties that may be assigned to this position. Borton & Sons, Inc. may augment duties, including essential functions, at its discretion.
- Assists with processing domestic and H-2A new hires, including: o Completing applicant logs (in-person and/or via telephone). o Reviewing and filtering applications utilizing software programs and other documentation. o Scheduling new hire appointments and assisting with crew/supervisor placement. o Completing new hire paperwork (I-9, W-4, and other policies and trainings). o Offering and explaining H-2A contract. o Maintaining recruitment tracking data and related record-keeping. o Filing and other general office assignments, as needed.
- Assists with establishing recruitment needs through consultation with operational supervisors.
- Assists with completing H-2A onboarding paperwork upon worker arrival.
- Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY:
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Bilingual in English/Spanish required.
- Action oriented with a strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated, exceptional customer service skills.
- Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong verbal/written communication skills – both English and Spanish.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:
- High School diploma or GED required.
WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires sitting, standing, and walking, potentially for long periods of time, as required by the task. A large share of work is completed using standard computer/office equipment. Ability to work in a combination office, as well as varied outdoor environments as needed. Occasional lifting related to role of up to 25 pounds. May include periods of daily local travel.
Borton & Sons, Inc. is a 12-month operation, which can require occasional and seasonal overtime, including early mornings and weekends during peak times.
